DeKalb-Cherokee Gas' customers are offered further possibilities for savings and convenience. Loans through DeKalb-Cherokee Gas are available for the purchase of natural gas appliances like gas ranges, gas dryers, gas grills, gas logs and fireplace units, gas lights, gas space and zone heaters, and gas furnaces. We'll even finance a central heating and cooling unit (gas heat/electric air conditioning). Now you can have the gas appliances of your choice and pay back the loan on your monthly gas bill.

How dependable is natural gas?

Many natural gas appliances like space room heaters, gas logs, stoves and water heaters work for you even during electric power outages. Gas is a cozy consolation to a rough winter storm because even during extreme conditions your home can stay warm, safe and secure. And natural gas is plentiful. Most of the gas used in the United States is domestically produced.

How safe is natural gas?

In year after year of use in over 40 million American homes natural gas has a superior safety record over all other forms of energy. There are far fewer accidents involving natural gas equipment than any other alternative. The reason natural gas is safe is that a leak can be readily detected. It can be smelled.

What to do if you smell gas

Natural gas has no odor, but we add a chemical with a distinctive odor to it to make it easy to detect. If you smell this odor, check first to see if a pilot light has gone out on one of your appliances. If you continue to smell gas, here's what to do:
